Hybrid Brow Tint

Say hello to the new beauty service on the block – Hybrid Brow Tint. It’s a Brow Tint, but better than a regular Tint with similar results to Henna… Intrigued? We thought you would be!

What is it?

It is an innovative gel dye with similar intense and long-lasting effects as Henna. It is highly pigmented, stains sparse brows and suits most skin types. It can give a dramatic or natural look, with 7 colours to mix together for your perfect match. Hybrid Brow Tint has no Ammonia. Eyelashes can also be tinted with Hybrid (more to come on that later).

How long does it last?

It lasts approx. 7 days on the skin and 7 weeks on the hair (low maintenance dreams!). Results vary and depend on various individual factors.

What’s the process?

Firstly, you will have a discussion with the technician to decide on the best colour match and shape for you. Your brows will then be gently cleaned before being mapped. Mapping your brows ensures your brows are the ideal shape for your face. The Hybrid Brow Tint will be applied and left to set for 10-20 minutes before being removed.

How does it compare to regular Brow Tint & Brow Henna?

Regular Brow Tint does not stain the skin and lasts on the hair for up to 2 weeks. Hybrid Brow Tint will well out-last this. As mentioned above, it’s closest to Henna in terms of its intenseness and how long it lasts; Henna lasts up to 14 days on the skin and up to 4-6 weeks on the hair whereas Hybrid Brow Tint lasts up to 7 days on the skin and 7 weeks on the hair). The main benefit in Hybrid Brow Tint compared to Henna, is the convenience. You can achieve a natural looking brow after just 10 minutes of having the tint on. For a bolder brow (more of a brow-tattoo look), Hybrid Brow Tint can be left on for up to 20 minutes. Henna on the other hand, must stay on for 20-30 minutes, so there’s a bit of saved time there (not that our customers complain about relaxing in our chairs while we up their brow game). After the Hybrid Brow Tint is wiped off, the colour continues to develop.

Is Hybrid Brow Tint for me?

Hybrid Brow Tint is for women with thin, sparse brows seeking instant fullness. In saying this, women with extremely sparse looking brows may not be suitable candidates for Hybrid Brow Tint (Brow Tint or Brow Henna may be more suitable in this instance). Those with healthy skin types which is not too oily also fit the criteria perfectly. Whether you’re after a very soft, natural looking brow or more of a bold, brow-tattoo effect, Hybrid Brow Tint can achieve these results.

Do you recommend any services to the Brow prior to or after Hybrid Brow Tint?

You could have Brow Threading or Waxing to tidy them up prior to applying the Hybrid Brow Tint. We also recommend having Brow Lamination done prior to Hybrid Brow Tint to really enhance the results. You can read more about Brow Lamination here.

How can I book in for Hybrid Brow Tint?

Lucky for you, all of our staff at our salons in Adelaide, Darwin and Canberra have been meticulously trained in Hybrid Brow Tint and are taking bookings now! You can book below:

Adelaide customers – Westfield Marion

Darwin customers – Gateway Centre, Mitchell Centre or Casuarina Square

Canberra customers – Westfield Belconnen or Westfield Woden

Everything you need to know about lash lifts and tints

It’s possibly one of the easiest things you can do for an instant make over, but a lash lift and tint may seem too good to be true for some. It’s also a little weird having someone right up in your space, millimeters from your face if you’re not used to it (rest assured your eyes are closed for the entire process, so no awkward stares). We often get asked if it will cause damage to the natural lashes and ‘how on earth does it work!?’. Well, Browz & Beauty Squad, we are here to set the record straight.

What is involved in a lash lift and tint?

The best way to describe a lash lift, is to compare it to a hair perm; we are giving you a long-lasting curl for the lashes. The technician will pop some silicone patches to your eyelids and comb the lashes into place before applying an eye-safe perming solution. The solution breaks down the bonds in the eyelash which allows it to change shape. After just a few minutes, a setting solution will be applied to lock that curl in! A lash tint is similar to your brow tint (or a really good, long lasting mascara which you can sleep in for weeks without it budging.

Is a lash lift and tint better than lash extensions?

That really depends on what you want out of it. Do you want extra length and volume? If so, lash extensions are great. Do you just want to enhance your natural lashes for a little extra somethin’-somethin’? Give a lash lift and tint a go!

Lash extensions involve artificial eyelashes being glued to your natural ones, using a special glue. Anywhere between 80 to 150 lashes can be applied per eye, so it really makes for a full flutter look. The results usually last anywhere between 2-4 weeks, depending on how well you care for them and your natural lash shedding cycle (which you can read more about here). The technician can take between 1-2 hours applying lash extensions.

A lash lift and tint on the other hand, takes approximately 45 minutes and carries a lower cost for you. You will need to have your lift and tint done once every 4-8 weeks (this varies from person to person). For some visual examples of lash extensions and lash lift/tints for comparison, head over to our Instagram page (may as well give us a ‘follow’ while you’re there, for some serious lash and brow goals, and all the beauty tips and tricks you could possibly need).

Will a lash lift and tint ruin my natural lashes?

In short, the answer is no. Obviously we aren’t with you 24 hours a day, so we don’t know if you play with your lashes, whether you regularly wash them, what you wash them with or how you treat them… But if you’re nice to them and let them just ‘be’ after a lash lift and tint, they will ‘be’ pretty damn good. Your natural lashes will remain strong and healthy, if the lash lift and tint is performed correctly (in other words, make sure you have an amazing lift and tint technician… you know where to find us).

Here are a few more handy tips when it comes to getting a lash lift and tint:

1. Your eyes will be closed for a while.. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before the treatment if you can. You can still have the treatment done with your lenses in, we just find that closing eyes for long periods of time with contacts in can cause dryness and irritability

2. Be aware of the ingredients in the perming and setting solutions before having the treatment done, to ensure you don’t have any allergies or nasty reactions

3. Do your research. P-L-E-A-S-E, find a technician who knows what they’re doing and who is reputable. Even if it’s not us you choose (sad face), having a well trained and experienced technician perform the process is essential. It’s not worth just going for the cheapest option when it comes to working with the eyes. Your local Browz & Beauty team have highly trained technicians with years of experience and amazing customer reviews – if you’re in SA, NT or ACT, we are the girls for you.

4. Don’t play with your lifted/tinted lashes – let them be. They’ll appreciate the space you give them and last longer

5. Avoid water, make up, cleansing products and humidity for the first 24 hours after a lash lift and tint – they can break down the solutions used on your lash

Lash Shedding 101

Eyelash extensions falling out? You’re not alone.

Our eyelashes fall out in cycles, completely replenishing every 60-90 days? Almost makes you wonder how we have any left, right? Our bodies are so clever, that with each lash that falls out, another has already started growing to fill its place (thanks body, you clever thing!).

The average person will lose approximately five to seven lashes per day. You probably wouldn’t even notice this normally because lashes are so fine and light. If you have lash extensions however, you may notice it more. BUT, before you blame or second guess your poor lash tech, let us reassure you that lash shedding is a completely normal and natural process.

Quite a lot, actually! From your natural shedding cycle which varies (sometimes hugely) from person to person, to the season – there are many factors which can impact your shedding cycle.

Just like none of us share a fingerprint, none of us share identical lash shedding cycles. Your general health, age, medications you may take and naughty habits (we’re looking at you, lash-tuggers/touchers) can all impact how long your lashes remain in place. Those with hormonal imbalances, nutrient or iron deficiencies, thyroid disease, oily skin or even just those under extreme stress are all known to have a faster lash shedding rate.

Spring, that is. And Autumn. These are the seasons where people will experience greater hair shedding. This doesn’t just apply to the occasional person – every single human being will shed more hair during this time. It isn’t called ‘Lash Shedding Season’ for nothin’!

Unless you’re a lash tugger/toucher (in which case you must stop this immediately – dreadful habit!), there isn’t a whole lot you can do unfortunately. Keeping your 2-3 weekly infill appointments will make sure any shedding remains unnoticeable and you will have full-looking lashes all year round. Another thing to remember is to keep your lash extensions clean, and brush them into place each day. Be sure to use an oil-free lash cleanser. This will help keep away additional build up and keep your lashes healthy and happy. If you want to promote growth and density, you could also buy a lash growth serum (ask any of our friendly staff about our Browgasm or Lash Rejuvenator Products next time you’re in the salon).

Brow Lamination

Finally ladies, we have an answer to taming your unruly brows…  (insert applause here)  It’s Brow Lamination.

This new beauty technique, originates from Europe and is used on the brows to style & set them into place, creating symmetry to even then most sparse set of brows.

How does it work?
First the eyebrows are brushed upwards or into your desired position/style, the beautician will then apply a solution which will ‘straighten & set’ them in place.  The final product can last between 4- 8 weeks, however these results will differ with each customer dependant on many factors which may include your current brow growth cycle and/or lifestyle.

Brow Lamination is most suited for those with brow hairs that grow in different directions to each other, and sparse brows that need to be lifted up to look fuller.

*If you have had any reaction to Lash Lift products, have sensitive skin or a skin condition this service isn’t recommended for you.

What to expect afterwards…

In 4 words – Bold, stand out brows!

In order to compliment the lamination technique, we suggest to combine the service with a brow wax/thread + tint or henna to perfect your brows giving them that full, voluminous appearance.

Is there any aftercare?
Your brows will need to stay dry for at least 24 hours.  We also suggest applying an argan oil or brow serum once a week to keep the brow hairs strong and healthy.  Also remember to brush your brows every few days to help maintain their new structure.

Brow Lamination (*Brow Thread/Wax or Tint/Henna) – $60

Eyelash Extensions – After Care Tips

Now you have your new luscious lashes to show off to the world, however tempting it may be please resist touching them for at least 3 hours. It’s also best to avoid spray tans, exposure to steam/heat & we also give you permission to have the day off from the gym!!

For the next 24 hours, try not to get your lashes wet either, this will give the adhesive the best time to set & ensure the longevity of your amazing new lashes!!

Finally, the most important tips are to wash & brush your lashes daily & with new naturally bold lashes, there’s no need for mascara.

Our Eyelash Extension Technicians in Adelaide, Canberra and Darwin can also recommend any product from our range of eyelash extensions after care range.

Eyelash Extensions – Classic, Hybrid, Volume – Which to Choose?

Gone are the days where there was only a simple choice strip or classic lashes!! The ever-evolving beauty industry now has developed several options for clients to choose from.

But what’s best for me you ask?  Well we’ve tried to simplify the differences between the different types of eyelash extensions that we offer in Adelaide, Canberra & Darwin below.

Classic Eyelash Extensions

Classic Eyelash Extensions

This option is where our lash technicians to apply one extension to one natural eyelash. At the end, the person gets an enhanced lash line that has a realistic natural appearance. We can only apply extensions to as many natural lashes you have. Therefore, if you have sparse lashes and are looking for a full look, then Classics are not going to be your option.

Classic Lashes are recommended to those people who wish their lashes to have a natural yet beautiful look or a 1st timer to the lash extension world. (be careful once you’ve been lashed… you’ll never go back).

Volume Lashes

Volume Lashes

This option will give you a fluffy and fuller appearance by applying multiple extensions ‘fans’ to every one of your natural lashes.  It is why Volume lashes provide amazing results to those people who have a thinly dispersed lash line, fine lashes or those who want really full lashes.

Hybrid Lashes

This is a 50/50 mixture of Volume and Classic lashes offering a more textured look giving you the best of both of them. Hybrid Eyelash Extensions are a great way to add volume, to see the potential look it can provide you. It is also great for the people with sparse lashes who want to make their lashes voluminous.

Lash Extensions Difference

Browz & Beauty Westfield Marion beauty salon and Westfield Woden beauty salon offering all 3 eyelash extension options.

Browz & Beauty Gateway Darwin beauty salon offers our signature Classic Eyelash Extension at this stage.

What is Brow Henna?

Brow Henna is a type of Eyebrow Tinting that stains the skin lying under the brow hair and colours the brow leaving long-lasting, luscious tint that can last up to 6 weeks in the hair and up to 14 days on the skin. Brow Henna has 99.5% natural ingredients as its constituent. With a wide range of colours, it allows a person to find the ideal blend that is suitable for any hair colour or skin type.

What Is the Difference Between Henna and Brow Tint?

Eyebrow Tinting slightly stains the skin and after a day or two, it fades to a natural, subtle finish. It takes approximately 3-5 minutes for the colour to develop, and there are several varieties of shades that are mixed to match your hair/skin tones.

Brow henna service provided by us in Adelaide, Canberra and Darwin locations stands perfect for people who have sparse brows, as it colours the skin in order to create a ‘powder-filled’ look. It lasts longer than the average eyebrow tints. Due to the natural ingredients of the product, it suits most clients who generally have sensitive skin.

How Long Will This Last?

This question will depend on many factors. Clients with oily skin may find the results don’t last as long as a normal skin type.  Also, if you use a lot of facial products, the henna will fade quicker.

Is There Any Aftercare for Henna Brows?

After your brow henna service, we recommend the following:

  • Add Eyebrow Threading or Waxing to your appointment to get optimal results
  • Do not wet the eyebrows for as long as possible ( at least for the first 12 hours)
  • Use as little products on your brow area as possible
